My Online Persona
When I searched my name on Google, I found some interesting information. Firstly, there are other people with the same name as me. Some of them have their own websites or profiles online, and they live in different parts of the world. I did not find too much information on my self, since my online presence is just beginning. To manage my online identity, I will make sure to keep personal information safe and secure and be cautious on websites which might gather personal data of users. I will also maintain privacy controls on my Facebook profile so that only friends and family have access to it. I am glad that the internet allows privacy controls so that we can choose what information to share and with whom.

Waiting for Spring
This weekend, the weather was nice. The sun came out and I can tell that Spring is around the corner. I was looking at my garden and trying to plan what I would like to plant for the summer. My daughter likes to plant giant sunflowers (12 feet tall) and morning glory. I have some Carolina jasmine that is starting to bloom. I can’t wait until its filled with yellow flowers and the beautiful scent comes into our garden. I want to add some new plants this year – maybe a climbing rose or some little rose bushes. Unfortunately, we don’t have much shade in our backyard, so many plants in previous years have not survived due to the blazing sun. Before I get ahead of myself in planning, we have to weed the entire flowerbed which will take some time!

Tagging
Tags are a useful tool to organize information online. By using tags in a blog, you can organize your posts by topic so that they are easily searched. Visitors to your site can also click on your tags to find all posts that have that tag attached to them. Tagging is like a virtual filing system for the internet. It keeps you organized and helps you pull only the information you want while filtering out the stuff you don’t want to see.

RSS Feeds Assignment
Using Google Reader, I subscribed to the RSS feed for all the blogs of the TTP participants. I also signed up for feeds from other websites that I visit frequently – CNN, The New York Times, and WikiTravel.
It is convenient to have all my news headlines and other stuff in one place. Now, other bloggers updates will immediately show up in my Google Reader account so I can read their new posts easily. The only challenge to using Google Reader is that if you have a lot of subscriptions, you can expect to have hundreds of updates to go through on a daily basis.
I can see myself using RSS feeds in my personal life. I have begun to organize my feeds into folders. I have a folder for TTP blogs and a folder for news feeds. Instead of having to open multiple tabs for all my favorite sites, Google Reader allows me to get all of my information in one place.
Traditional Punjabi Meal for Wintertime
Below you will find a photo of a typical winter meal eaten in Punjab. It is called Makki di roti aur Sarson da saag. The meal is often served in a round steel dish with high sides (thali). The roti (yellow pita-like bread) is made with cornflour (makki) and served with a spinach and mustard dish (saag) topped with a knob of butter. Side items include refreshing slices of daikon radish and mixed pickles (mango, green chilies and lemons are most common). This hearty meal is usually washed down with lassi (homemade buttermilk).
Nainital
In the header, you will see a picture of a town I used to live in. This town, called Nainital, is a hill-station in India. Located in the state of Uttarkhand, Nainital is known for its magnificent views of the Himalayas as well as its peaceful lakes. Here is a striking image of this beautiful mountain-top city as viewed from Naini Peak.
